Blooming time in Virginia

I have lived and visited many places in the world but have never been anyplace with the glorious blooms of beauty right here in my yard.
and this is from the back porch
up the back walk

The head gardener has been busy these past few weeks  planting the spring vegetables and just general clean up.  Lisa and Howard and  two boys from the village, sans pony cart, are coming this next Sunday to clean the ponds.  What a grubby mess that is.  I will be the food service .
Now that we are both in our eighties we have slowed down considerably.  Of course Bob has a lung condition called pulmonary fibrosis so he has to stop and rest quite often.  He was diagnosed about eight or nine years ago and is really done remarkable well.  At first it was really frightening.  Nothing but doom and gloom.   There is a new drug used in Europe for pulmonary fibrosis  and we are hoping it will soon be available here in the U.S.
I am just finishing up my doll quilt for April.  It has two bluebirds in a basket of flowers.  Bluebirds are busy feeding babies in the houses.  We have a pair of  Carolina Wrens in a box on the front porch.  They are not the least bit timid and carry in the biggest bugs to their babies.  What a beautiful time of year spring is.
