Splendid, I see.</strike>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; font-size: small;"><strike> I am in the throes of trying to sell a house and getting 28 years of treasures sorted. I have done very well with the boxes of quilting fabric and books. My quilt guild members were pleases to receive my many books and boxes of fabric and sundry items. I still have enough if I ever get back into quilting again. I am hoping by the holiday Gabe and I will be hanging a wreath on the front door of my new home in Woodstock, VA. </strike>
He was able to tell her how much he loved her and so proud she has grown to such a delightful young lady. I have been really one busy gal this past month. Bob was in the hospital in May. He is still one sick guy. He goes tomorrow for an operation to remove a tumor from his bladder and then in two weeks a epidural for his back pain. This is a guy 82 years old who has seldom ever had any medical problems. I have been his care-taker so I have not had much time to call my own. Been trying to catch up on the doll quilt exchange and I no sooner start to sew when something comes up.
Fortunately we can afford to have a house cleaning team come in every other week. Then we also have another guy who comes and mows and trims the grass when it needs it. I have tried to keep the vegetable garden up. Boy you sure can tell the head gardener has not been in attendance. I ordered a new garden tool today. I read about it in the N.Y.Times in a column about new gadgets for the handicapped. A long handled shuffle hoe. When I checked the garden this evening I thought, hmmm just what I need. Look out weeds, here I come.

Here is my May doll quilt exchange for Roberta. I am sorry it will be late but we have had quite a bit going on here in Boston this past month.
First Bob has been in the hospital with some kind of infection in his blood. He is home now but has a tube (pic line) with antibiotics. He also has an oxygen bottle that certainly makes it easier to breath. I was real nervous about tending to all that but now it old hat.
Then I had a cataract and new lens in my right eye. Vision really improved. Amazing the progress made in that field.
The biggest news ----applause and trumpets---we have been married 60 years today. Many happy memories and some exciting times.Pamela Kiefferhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10627605593041223171noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8524417924384463647.post-91168025028305908712013-05-13T11:43:00.000-07:002013-05-13T11:43:09.279-07:00I want thank to all the gals for the wonderful comments. Lisa and Howard and two boys from the village, sans pony cart, are coming this next Sunday to clean the ponds. What a grubby mess that is. I will be the food service .
Now that we are both in our eighties we have slowed down considerably. Of course Bob has a lung condition called pulmonary fibrosis so he has to stop and rest quite often. He was diagnosed about eight or nine years ago and is really done remarkable well. At first it was really frightening. Nothing but doom and gloom. There is a new drug used in Europe for pulmonary fibrosis and we are hoping it will soon be available here in the U.S.
I am just finishing up my doll quilt for April. It has two bluebirds in a basket of flowers. Bluebirds are busy feeding babies in the houses. We have a pair of Carolina Wrens in a box on the front porch. They are not the least bit timid and carry in the biggest bugs to their babies. What a beautiful time of year spring is.

I love birds so this project is right up my alley. At this time of year in Virginia the birds are really full of activity. We see quite a few returnees and some just stopping by on their way further north. The bluebirds boxes have been tidied up. Wren houses have been sprayed and dusted for mites. In one Bob found the leavings of a mouse family that didn't make it through the winter. We've noticed the goldfinches have started to color up. The bird feeder is full of blue jays but they will soon move deeper in the woods. Seems like they don't want to have us looking and laughing at them when their molting.
This quilt is one of my first done in 1979 in Taif, Saudi Arabia. Home on leave in Virginia I spotted this wall hanging at a quilt show and just fell in love with it. I guess living in the desert at the time had something to do with it. I figured if I could make the lady bugs and strawberries the rest of it would be easy-peasy.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Sunday, the first one in March. It came in like a lamb so what do you suppose the weather guys have in store for us at the end of this month.
Boo, my computer has been in the shop for three day so I missed the last few days of the bias ladies. I really enjoyed all the entries to the bias ladies. It is always a great treat to see how much imagination quilters have. I think that is the most anticipators I have seen on a blog swap.
We have the most beautiful pair of red tailed hawks nesting in our back woods. They don't seem to bother the birds but have nailed a couple of squirrels. Our squirrels are well feed, always up on the back porch getting into the peanut suet holder. We have two worthless Siamese cats who much rather catch bugs and worms than chase squirrels. . Ugh!
Last night I threw out some leftover scraps of ham and it wasn't but a few minutes before a fox was out cleaning them up. I love it out here in the country.
Alas, soon we must think of moving on. Both Bob and I don't seem to handle this big house and the outside work as easy as when we were in our seventies. Having been in the military and then working outside the states we never stayed in a place much longer than 4 or 5 years. We have lived here 26 years. There are lots of memories packed away in this house. What does one do with it all. Pamela Kiefferhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10627605593041223171noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8524417924384463647.post-80405473378061392452013-02-21T14:46:00.000-08:002013-02-23T09:06:24.807-08:00

Snow drops sure do remind us that winter is just about over. I am so glad we did not have the snow they had further north from here.

Today I am going to start on my "It's all about me" I have a couple of ideas for that gal. I did not understand if I am suppose to make an exact replica or just wing it. Still I will have fun with it.

Went shopping with daughter Lisa yesterday. She is busy making curtains for their new home in Woodstock. We found some super bargains at curtain and drapery shop just outside Charlottesville.. I found a nice piece for a new bag pattern...hope it doesn't end up in the UFO box. Where does my time go? I know those afternoon naps take up some of it.

The embroidery-machine is still setting on the shelf unused, not even threaded. I wonder if that was a mistake. I certainly won't be the first one I have made. I am not making a list, just too depressing.

Now off to do the Saturday laundry...great time to play in my sewing room between loads of washing.

Spring is truly just around the corner...snowdrops blooming in the woods. Today is one of those get ready, it's comimg sun is warming the kitties on the back porch.

I should be down in my sewing room getting a quilt finished I promised my daughter for her birthday. All it needs is to be assembled. The blocks are from a project from the Culpeper Quilt Guild about 8 years ago. She found them in a box and said that was just the right throw for the second twin bed. Then I must start on the doll quilt for January. I have a great piece of fabric but nothing comes to mind as to what to do with it. I am going to the pain doctor in Warrenton tomorrow and then I will stop at Kelly Ann's guilt shop and maybe get an idea there.
